Under the Weather…

Stickman's Log

Have got a terrible head cold. Been in bed for the last two days. Aunt Mabel has made me a batch of leek and potato soup. Uncle Desmond was right about the wind power in a bowl of that stuff. He has been looking after the girls for me. Will write more later – head banging now.

Mini Olympics!

Stickman's Log

Am absolutely exhausted! Have spent the day leaping, jumping and vaulting. Aunt Mabel was out on a jam tasting tour and so Uncle Desmond and I decided to set up a mini Olympics in the garden. Giles Sprout was passing and joined in the pole vault – very enthusiastically! We had to go and rescue him from the roof of three doors down. Uncle won the sheep high jump – cleared Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie with a good foot to spare, while I picked up a chocolate gold coin for first place in the long jump. No idea I could leap that far! Hilda Gantree was as surprised as I was to find me in her fishpond. Marvellous day!

Life lessons…

Important lesson learnt today – never eat sherbet and then drink lemonade. Was on the way back from Giles’s house with Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie this afternoon when I treated myself to a sherbet fountain and a bottle of lemonade. Before I knew it, I was frothing at the mouth and erupting like a sherbet volcano! You live and learn!

What a weekend!

Moon looks beautiful tonight. Uncle Desmond just left. We’ve spent the day finishing off the sheep shed and Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie are now happily settled into their new abode. Marjorie’s legs are sticking out the side window, but she seems unconcerned. Giles Sprout has asked me if he can borrow the girls to mow his lawn. Shall take them over Thursday. I wonder if I should put them on a lead? Bed’s calling.

Disaster in the fusion trials!

Disaster in the fusion trials! So disappointed. My white sauce split, my cream curdled and my sorbet didn’t set. Then, to top it all off, I flambéed my trousers! Uncle Desmond has come over to cheer me up. We’re having take out – just can’t face the kitchen right now.

The Great British Fusion Feast.. 2 days to go..

Two days to go till the trials for The Great British Fusion Feast. Tonight’s experimental menu is a Thai roast, followed by cheese gateaux with grape sorbet. Must make sure Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie don’t tuck in to the leftovers like last night. My hot salsa popcorn kept repeating on them and the poor things were still baaing uncomfortably at two in the morning.

One week until trials…!

Shelter is coming on a treat. Only the best for my girls! Uncle Desmond has been helping me. He is glad to have an excuse to get out of the house. Aunt Mabel is Spring-cleaning and she keeps telling him that he is on the top of her list of things to be thrown out. Poor Uncle broke her favourite vase on Tuesday whilst attempting to juggle three lemons and a pineapple. She loves him dearly really, but it usually takes about three days for Aunt Mabel to calm down. Trying my next fusion dish tonight, curried eggs with orange pita bread and vegetarian spring rolls. Only one more week till the trials!

Weekend with the sheep…

Stickman's Log

Have fallen in love with Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie! Uncle Desmond thinks they have probably been lost from their flock for some time. He and Aunt Mabel came over for dinner last night. Aunt Mabel was horrified to find Sylvia on the sofa watching Britain’s Got Wind – the latest talent show looking for the next big thing in wind instruments. Beryl was reclining on a beanbag, and Marjorie appeared to be playing Scrabble. I don’t hold with the theory that sheep are not that clever. Have decided to go ahead with building them a shelter in the front garden. I must admit it was a bit of a squash last night after they all decided to pile into bed with me.

Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie – the sheep…

Three sheep have taken up residence in my front garden. Have named them Sylvia, Beryl and Marjorie. Placed a notice in Oak Town News today to any farmers missing three sheep – but am hoping they are not claimed. Marvellous natural lawn mowers and such gentle creatures too. Wonder if it’s easy to shear sheep? Maybe I should make them a little shelter? Best stop now, my chilli doughnuts with rhubarb and mascarpone should be ready.

Great British Fusion Feast

Stickman's Log

The first round of trials to find contestants for the Great British Fusion Feast are being held in a couple of weeks, so I have been fine tuning my dishes. Tonight’s dinner was a mix of Japanese, Spanish and classic British pub grub. Wasn’t confident that my sashimi empanadas with chips and gravy would work, but was surprisingly tasty. Dessert however was less of a success. My mochi churros with custard have left me feeling quite nauseous and required frequent dashes to the bathroom.
