Sleeping issues…

Stickman's Log

Restless sleep last night. Probably not helped by the three-hour nap I had in the afternoon when I attempted ‘10-Minute Weightless Meditation Techniques’. And then I ate way too much cheese before bed. Great grandfather Arch always said too much cheese makes you dream more. Don’t remember much of my dream, except for being in a rabbit onesie and speaking fluent Spanish to an angry hamster. Now what could that mean?

I am a fruit-sculpting addict

I am a fruit-sculpting addict! The pineapple candelabrum was just the beginning! Am up to Level 4 and my next challenge is a watermelon narwhal. Rufus unfortunately ate the candelabrum and my mango husky dog before I could get pictures. Poor dog has had the runs ever since. Postcard from Aunt and Uncle, well actually just Uncle, seems Aunt Mabel left him in the last town. She didn’t see the funny side when Uncle dedicated ‘Shaddap You Face’ by Joe Dolce to her at a karaoke night. Best get on; need to take Rufus for his walk.

New Hobbies…

Stickman's Log

To fulfil my New Year’s resolution to take up two new hobbies I have downloaded “Mediation for Beginners’ and ’60 Ways to Sculpt Fruit’. Tried the first meditation lesson today and the last thing I remember is following the instruction to imagine I was laying on a beach with the waves lapping gently against the shore. Woke up three and a half hours later to find Rufus licking my face. Tomorrow I shall attempt fruit sculpture no. 1 – pineapple candelabra!

Rufus and the Spicy Sausage!

Rufus has just wolfed down my extra hot and spicy chorizo sausage and is now gasping for water. Wonder if I should offer him some milk too? Poor dog keeps looking at me woefully and then widening his eyes in a state of disbelief as the spicy sausage seems to be repeating on him. Can’t leave any food unattended while Rufus is staying. And not just food really, yesterday he tried to eat my glow in the dark penguin Christmas socks!

Mythical Bird

Returned mythical bird book to library. Couldn’t sleep a wink after reading about the Gunto. A devilish, monstrously winged beast that visits homes under the cover of darkness, stealing livestock and pets without warning. In the bright light of day, it’s easy to dismiss as a fable, but in the middle of the night your mind runs away with you. So I stayed wide awake, watching Clive and Rufus, who is staying for the week. Aunt Mabel and Uncle Desmond are on a walking tour of fine cheeses in the Dales. Gunto too similar to The Haversham for my liking. Best get on, have promised Rufus a long walk.

Slushy January!

Beautiful, bright January day. Snow all but gone, just odd pools of slush that are fast disappearing. Clive appears to have developed a limp – which is quite unusual for a goldfish. He was very taken with the limbo set I got him for Christmas though, so maybe he’s pulled something? Shall keep an eye on him over next couple of days. Found an interesting book on gigantic mythical birds in Oak Town library today. Should make for interesting bedtime reading.

Snowman Builder!

I LOVE my remote control snowman builder – it’s magical! We now have sixteen snowmen of varying sizes in the front garden – it looks like a snowman’s ball! Slight glitch with number fifteen, who has three legs and appears to be making a rude gesture, but otherwise amazing!

Snow Storm!

Stickman's Log

Uncle Desmond and Aunt Mabel just gone up to bed. We’ve been snowed in for five days, so we have eaten, drunk and made merry. Aunt Mabel had a little too much eggnog on Christmas Day and insisted on kissing Clive underneath the mistletoe. Uncle kept trying to point out that Clive was a goldfish – but Aunt refused to believe him and declared Clive the handsomest creature she had ever laid eyes upon. Turkey never turned up. Uncle says it will remain one of the great mysteries of life. Aunt Mabel says the only great mystery of life is why she ever married Uncle. We’re hoping to be able to get outside tomorrow and try my remote control snowman builder.

It is Christmas Time!!

Christmas is nearly here! Snow forecast for tomorrow – so hoping it will be a white one. Desperate to try out last year’s present from Uncle Desmond and Aunt Mabel – a remote control snowman builder. Poor Uncle in doghouse yet again – somehow managed to lose a 15-pound frozen turkey between Frescos exit and his car. Christmas is at mine this year – perhaps minus the turkey – which Uncle and Aunt were supposed to be supplying. Can’t wait for everyone to try my homemade crackers. Just hope the novelty bangs work. Must save three to share with Albert and Archie. Best get on – mince pies must be ready!

Peruvian Llama Wool Shop

Cousin Frank wants to set up an authentic Peruvian Llama wool shop. Aunt Mabel says how much wool is he expecting to get from one llama? But Frank has big plans and is intending to set up a llama farm, importing the wonderful beasts from deepest Peru. Shall miss Louis when he goes tomorrow. Terrific animal, like a big woolly cuddly thing! You wouldn’t think he’d be able to get into a hammock. Loveable creature was on its back, legs pointing to the stars in the back garden last night.
